a user experience designer with a passion for crafting simple, transparent, effortlessly usable web sites

The Small Print My design philosophy is simple: if it's not useful, get rid of it. It's that simple. I use wireframes heavily during my design process, to get the structure, layout and amount of content near perfect before committing to a mockup. It makes more sense to make mistakes in a wireframe that takes 10 minutes to work up, than a mockup that can take upwards of 6 hours. Often, the wireframe will have been iterated so heavily that it barely resembles the initial wireframe. If this is making sense to you, then we'll probably work well together; so shoot me over an email at hello@bazdeas.com and let's see.

Can't believe I'm still seeing sites that give you an error if you use spaces while typing out your credit card details. Come on.

More on this thoughtWay to lose my sale, buddy. There's nothing more irritating than being made to retype your credit card details because you put spaces in between the number groups. Quite frankly, it's insulting. It's almost like you're calling me an idiot and thus punishing me for such behavior. This is not the emotion you want your users to feel. The last thing I want to do when ordering online is to have to retype my details, even though I know they're right. Another offender during the checkout process is having to enter in the start or issue date for my card. It's just not necessary. In short, don't take a user out of flow if they make a small mistake. You don't even need to notify them of it, if you can fix it in the backend without any hassle.

yet another redesign of bazdeas.com

The second redesign in 2 months! Not all that impressive when I tell you this redesign only took a weekend to design and code. Nevertheless, for this redesign, I decided to put less focus on full screenshots of websites I've worked on—as is traditional in the industry—in favor of small, focused shots that gives the a reader a peak at what I'm working on at the moment. This means that I can show many screenshots during the design phase of a site, instead of waiting for it to go live—which can take months.
